Collard Green Recipe
Ingredients: Collard Greens Recipes
- 1kg swiss chard
- 1kg collard greens
- 100 gms canola oil
- ½ kg yellow onion
- 10 gms kosher salt
- 40 gms minced garlic
- 300 gms bacon lardons
- 200gm apple cider vinegar
- 100 gm sugar
- ⅓ kg chicken stock
- 300gm cherry tomatoes
How to Cook:
- Firstly, trim all the big stems of swiss chard and collard green and cut them into the size of 1 ½ inch pieces.
- Wash all the chopped greens well and dry it.
- Take a large pot on medium heat and add some canola oil. Add bacon lardons, onions and salt and fry until the onions become soft and translucent.
- Add the garlic and cook until fragrance comes for about 2 minutes. Add sugar and apple cider vinegar and stir it well to reduce it until the syrupy consistency comes.
- Add chicken stock and greens and cover the pot with a lid and simmer them on a low heat and check them in every 15 minutes and add more chicken stock if needed.
- The cooking process takes about 2 hours. Once greens become tender remove the pot from the heat and season it with kosher salt and apple cider vinegar according to your taste.
- Fold in the cherry tomatoes which are half cut and serve it hot.
