Sloppy Joe Recipe Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 6 hamburger buns, split

Sloppy Joe Recipe Directions

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and green pepper until the beef is browned and the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes. Drain the excess fat from the pan.

Stir in the tomato sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, dry mustard, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until slightly thickened, about 5 minutes.

Serve the sloppy joe mixture on the hamburger buns.
